Pokémon Card Values & Price Guide
This is the Pokémon section of the TCG Value Scanner price guide: the printings collectors have scanned in the app, from Japan's first cards of 1996 to the current Mega Evolution series, each with a value estimate. Start with a year below, or open a Pokémon or set guide to compare printings.

The eras at a glance
Each era changed what a valuable card looks like, so knowing the era narrows down what you are holding:
- Wizards of the Coast, 1999–2003. The English game launched with Base Set on January 9, 1999. 1st Edition stamps and Shadowless printings matter most in this period: see 1999, 2000 and 2001. Japan was earlier, with the 1996 Japanese Base Set and 1997.
- EX, 2003–2007. The Pokémon Company International took over with EX Ruby & Sapphire in 2003. Pokémon-ex, Gold Stars and δ Delta Species define it: see 2005 and 2006.
- Diamond & Pearl and Platinum, 2007–2009. Pokémon LV.X and Pokémon SP: 2007, 2008, 2009.
- HeartGold & SoulSilver, 2010–2011: 2010.
- Black & White, 2011–2013. Pokémon-EX and the first Radiant Collection: 2012, 2013.
- XY, 2014–2016. Mega Evolution, Primal Reversion and BREAK: 2014, 2015, 2016.
- Sun & Moon, 2017–2019. Pokémon-GX and Rainbow Rares: 2017, 2018, 2019.

- Scarlet & Violet, 2023–2025. Silver borders, lowercase ex and Illustration Rares: 2023, 2024.

Finding your exact printing
The same Pokémon has been printed hundreds of times, and the printings can differ in value by orders of magnitude. Three details settle which one you have: the set symbol, the card number, and the finish — holo, reverse holo or plain. For cards from Japan's early years the number is a Pokédex number rather than a set number, so the set symbol does the work. Japanese and English printings are always listed separately. A Pokémon guide such as Charizard or Mewtwo puts every printing of one Pokémon side by side.
About the values
The figures are estimates, not guaranteed sale prices. Where market data exists, a card page shows values by grade; where it does not, it shows a rough range from the app's own scans. How the estimates are produced explains both.
